The UW-Manitowoc campus community presented Professor Helgeland with a globe when she retired in May 2010. On November 12, 2011, the Helgeland family presented the globe back to the college during a Memorial Service that was held in the theater to honor the memory of this outstanding educator. The library will be the globe's new home. It stands near the atlas cases, in front of windows that face Lake Michigan.
