Lakeshore holiday celebrations begin with “A Festival of Christmas!” Joyous music will fill the elegant Capitol Civic Centre to usher in the holiday season. Music from “Amahl and the Night Visitors” and “Intrada: Adoration and Praise” will be on the program. Joining the wind ensemble for this festive celebration will be the LWE Antiphonal Brass, the Maritime Chamber Ensemble, and TV anchorman Tom Zalaski as narrator. Reminisce with the Lakeshore Wind Ensemble and Lakeshore Big Band when they take the stage together for a look back at the 50’s and 60’s. The bands and vocal soloists will take you back to the years when fashions changed from poodle skirts and black leather jackets to mini skirts and bell-bottoms. Enjoy the instrumental and vocal arrangements of tunes that topped the charts for Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Patti Page, Ray Charles, the Beatles, and yes, the King himself, Elvis!

The tenth annual Wesley Teply Community Service Award in the Arts will be presented to a community member who has made a significant contribution to the arts in the Lakeshore area.

"The Magic of Movie Music" Saturday, May 3, 2008, Capitol Civic Centre, Manitowoc, Wisconsin at 7:30 PM.

Let’s go to the movies! Music of the silver screen is the theme of this concert which traditionally celebrates our musical heritage. Many of our most memorable tunes were part of movie soundtracks. You’ll cross the sands of the Sahara with “Lawrence of Arabia,” visit Bali Hai in “South Pacific,” walk the streets and alleys of New York with the Jets and Sharks in “West Side Story,” and witness the defense of the world in “Independence Day.” On the lighter side, the wind ensemble will treat you to a medley of tunes from favorite Disney animated movies.
